Kitchen Trash Can – Cleaning and Sanitizing

The cleaning and sanitizing of the trash can is not usually a household task taken in consideration by many people, although this accessory of the kitchen is one of the dirtiest in the house.

Even if you use garbage bags, odours and germs can spread easily on the surface of trash can, and then spread to other areas of your home.

In time, the trash can easily turn into an infection generator. Its sanitizing is extremely important if you want to keep your house clean and without odors. Germs and bacteria grow rapidly in the trash and spread, if you do not stop their expansion in time.

Why is it important the sanitizing of the trash can?

Trash cans (especially the kitchen ones) host a series of food scraps and other degradable waste, which quickly begin to emanate odours. Be careful though, not just less fresh air is the problem, but microorganisms that can migrate to the surface of furniture, on your hands, or in the air, increasing the risk of diseases.

The sanitizing of the trash can is especially important if you have pets or small children at home. Deal with this household task at least once every two months and you will eliminate the danger of domestic environmental contamination with germs.

A proper cleaning and sanitizing of the trash can

In just 15 minutes, your trash can will be again, a clean environment, not a source of repulsive odours and germs.

You only need:

Empty the trash can and take it into an open space where you can rinse it thoroughly with a hose. At this stage, you manage to remove large food particles and other debris. Dab it with some kitchen paper towels when done.

If you cannot clean it in outer space, you can do it in the bathtub, but of course you will have to also disinfect the bathtub in the end.

Then apply a generous layer of disinfectant, both inside and on the outside trash (including its bottom, where dirt usually gathers).

You can use:

Use the brush to thoroughly remove dirt, then rinse thoroughly with a lot of water and wipe it with kitchen paper towels.

Repeat the procedure after 60 days. Having  a trash can clean and sanitized means a lot for the hygiene of your home.
