How to Organize and Clean Up Properly Your Refrigerator

Whatever is the nature of foods, they can’t be randomly throw into a refrigerator. That is useless, as some require a lower temperature while others do not and the refrigerator temperature is not everywhere the same.

The warmest is in the upper part of the refrigerator because the hot air rises and is cooler for the foods that are on the glass lid of the drawers for storing fruits and vegetables. The temperature difference is about 6 degrees C (almost 43 F).

Bottom Shelves: Also, is significantly warmer on the refrigerator door shelves and in the vegetable and fruit drawers, even they are at the bottom of the fridge. However, the glass plate protects them from moisture, so it is the best to place them here. It is good to place directly above this area the most sensitive foods – meat, fish – that spoil easily.

Middle Shelves: On the middle shelf are placed dairy products. Incorrectly, the milk is placed on the refrigerator door, where it is too warm to keep it in optimal conditions, so the best be placed is near the other dairy products.

Upper Shelves: On higher shelves and the door must be placed foods that should stay at a cooler temperature than the temperature of the room such as cheese, butter, jam, eggs, open jars, drinks, mustard, ketchup, tomato sauce, etc.

Generally, you should keep in mind that the refrigerator should not be filled to the brim. If there is no even less space between foods, air cannot circulate as it should, and they will not be cooled in proper conditions.

Refrigerator Cleaning: Do not forget the refrigerator hygiene, this should be done approximately every 2-3 weeks, and the best solution is little vinegar diluted in water.

Remove all products out of your fridge and put them on the countertop. Put your perishable products in a large bowl filled with ice. Take out the removable shelves and drawers and place them aside. They need time to warm up to room temperature prior cleaning them. Use a clean cloth and clean thoroughly all the drawers and shelves with the vinegar solution. Start cleaning from top to bottom. Rinse with clean water and wipe them with a towel or a soft cloth. Make sure the fridge interior is completely dried before putting back your foods.
