Time Traveler #2, Tour of Elegant Vintage Style Interiors (video)
In this newly uploaded video, you will find outstanding home interiors where the living spaces contain traces of timeless former times which add comfort and luxury to the environment.
Everywhere, in the hallway, living room, and bedroom, wallpaper, decorative items, and colors match with both vintage and contemporary furniture.
Basic features of the vintage style home interiors
The following characteristics of retro fashion merit our attention:
The primary goal of the style is to create a harmonious fusion of contemporary antiques, decorative accents, and modern technologies; it shares many characteristics with Provence and retro, but the antiques used should not date back further than the 19th century; objects, such as furniture, do not necessarily need to be genuine antiques; they can be artificially aged and still exude the same coziness, romance, and lovely antique touch.
The perfect vintage items are those from the last century; vintage style is simplicity, strictness, and brevity of lines, an arrogant lack of luxury, and extravagance; vintage items are believed to be at least 40–50 years old.
To maintain the delicate balance between modernity and antiquity, past and present, vintage interior design demands an impeccable sense of style; it is crucial to strategically place noble antiques so that the room does not resemble an antique shop where all historical eras and trends are gathered in the windows.
The symmetry of interior design and furniture should be your major guidance when arranging pieces from bygone eras; it is an ideal achievement when the symmetrical interior design functions as a visual continuation of the furniture.
With its curving, carved legs, flowing lines, and expansive embellishments, vintage furniture has a light color scheme that starts with white and includes beige, caramel, and, of course, the color of the precious wood.
Natural materials are utilized in the decoration, yet style is permitted beneath them; the mandatory inclusion of artefacts from the previous century that have aged out with time or the master’s deft hand.
In textiles, voluminous shapes, tassels, fringes, and other ornate embellishments are desired.
The beauty of vintage style
The attraction of vintage decor rests in the notion that you may artificially age modern household things without having to search for truly antique stuff.
Finishing materials have a specific place in design, thus choosing them should be done carefully. Materials should be both natural and aged, either naturally or by a craftsman’s hands. Plasterboard, linoleum, and stretch ceilings cannot be used because they were not available in that time period, which is acknowledged in the design.
The following guidelines should be followed while selecting a finish:
Water-based paint or lime paints are used for ceilings; since the ceiling is vintage, patina, cracks, and bumps are desired and add to the unique charm; the ceiling must be white; and small bits of decorative gypsum plaster are not only permitted but also welcome.
