Washing machine is one of the most important appliances in a household. We are using washing machine weekly, maybe two times on week.
So, no matter of the type, top-loading or front-loading, properly maintaining of washing machine is the key for a longer life without any major repairs.
Let’s see some tips:
When you keep the front door of the washer closed all the time, even if you are not using it, you allow mildew to grow in the inner seal. You should keep your door open that helps inner seal to dry. A washer interior and inner seal dried doesn’t allow mildew to grow and prevent odors. Also, when you have finished washing you can wipe the seal with a dried cloth.
You should keep the self-dispensing drawers clean all the time. Fabric softener and dried soap act like a magnet for dust and dirt.
Wipe thoroughly the self-dispenser with a damp cloth after any wash cycle.
You need to protect yourself and your family from any electrical surge. You should plug your washing machine first into a surge protector and then into a plug.
Modern washers have electrical devices which are sensitive to any changes in the electricity circuit. However, prevention is the best protection. A whole house surge protector for all your electrical appliances would be a good idea.
Check regularly the rubber hose and faucets to prevent any leaks. Replace the rubber hose every 5 years.
Check also, the drainage hose to be sure it isn’t clogged and water flow freely to drain.
